Proliferation at the OMG Corral.

Enormous gun numbers do not lie, many more Americans do die.

.

As a gentle stream flows nearby your home, nearly all your neighbors, and other townsfolk, can enjoy its sensible capacity. The smaller children are kept away from it except with supervision, but everyone else can sit by, or wade in without much worry. Much like before the heavy weapon crazy days of the last quarter century, when the nation of the 2nd Amendment was considerably more restrained in its massive killing results. Yet, when the clouds release their munitions today, it is an overflowing torrent, where almost no one is safe…

.

Massive Mass Shootings: Boulder CO, Atlanta*, El Paso, Virginia Beach, Santa Fe, Pittsburgh, Thousand Oaks, Stoneman Douglas, Sutherland Springs, Las Vegas, Orlando, San Bernardino, Navy Yard DC, Aurora CO, Newtown, Geneva County AL, Binghamton NY, Fort Hood, Virginia Tech, Stockbridge GA, Columbine CO,… The total count is 20 shootings with deaths of 10 or above since 1999; *so Atlanta with 8 makes 21 when in this grouping. There were “only” 9 additional mass shootings of 10 or more killed in the 50 years before: 1949–1998. All but one of the 29 total actions included the use of a semi-automatic weapon.

.

In 2019 there were 417 mass shootings determined by at least four people being shot, not necessarily killed, excluding the shooter.

.

Top 50 Cities as to gun violence per 100,000 inhabitants: the first ten are Detroit, St. Louis, Memphis, Baltimore, Springfield MO, Little Rock, Cleveland, Stockton, Albuquerque, and Milwaukee.

.

The 2nd Amendment has its place, yet doesn’t trump deaths at such a pace.

.

Gun manufacturers and their bought politicians, pundits, propagandists (the NRA), bait their prey with fear. Fear creates enemies, enemies create paranoia, paranoia encourages gun fixations, gun fixations push more gun purchases, those susceptible to depression consume the paranoia, and when these people cannot find the enemy, the enemy becomes themselves, suicide is often the result.

.

The mass shooter “finds” the “enemy”, and is the first victim of the paranoia. Since no other “advanced” nation has this level of death from guns, or such terrible violence using any kind of weapon, it is either our wacky and creepy promotion of the gun culture or our lax laws, or a little or a lot of both.

.

As the top 10 of the 50 cities noted above show, and the last five on the list, show (Shreveport, Springfield IL, Columbia SC, West Palm Beach FL, and Rochester NY), it is not just big cities like Chicago having the worst of the gun violence problem.

.

Four hundred million guns trigger blood awash, the massive killing numbers glut we must quash.

.

The full solution is likely not an easy one. While gun laws alone will never wholly solve our slaughter and suicidal scourge via the gun, compared to almost any nation in the world, we must try new, nationwide combinations to see what achieves the best results. My belief is that being awash in nearly a half trillion guns is a cause, or at least a symptom, of our ramping up gunslinging and killing ways. With mass shootings being the worst manifestations of our lax gun policies, brewed into being by a politicized, and polarized Republican paranoia.

.

The rash buying of more guns is a serious issue as well. It is also paranoia based; a 2000s’ trend perpetrated by the fear merchants and end-time propagandists. Any mention of new gun laws sets off a Pavlov’s dog reaction. The trough of weapons is always full, and often made easy to get. It can be compared to multiple Shays’ Rebellions, without good cause, knocking over armories day in and day out, as the militia looks the other way.

.

Republican conservatives will never allow any sane gun laws to be passed. Their recalcitrance since Newtown shows how callus as well as ridiculously conspiratorial many Republicans can be. They continue egging on more fear, violence, paranoia, and a vigilante perspective. The January 6th Capitol attack was made possible by the gun craziness of the last two plus decades. Republicans will sacrifice half of their voters to suicide before they give in, give up, or die. And their rallying cry goes out…

Give me Vigilante Liberty or 2nd Amendment Suicide!

.

Their downward spiral is inevitable. The last drop of moderation was squeezed out of the party by Trump. Republicans will never find a solution until they start looking for one. If they truly believe more guns is the answer, then they, and possibly we, are fucked.

Unless we can pushback in a new and better way, which I call the We The People System!
